Terms of Service

Effective October 25, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Knit & Knot Studio (“we”, “us”) for using Kanna Studio — the app, the pages it makes for workshops and their clients, and everything they show. By creating an account, or by using a page Kanna Studio runs, you agree to them.

1. Who these terms are for

Workshops — the businesses that sign up and use Kanna Studio to run their shop — and the people they invite onto their team. Clients and visitors — anyone who uses a page a workshop shares or embeds: a configurator, a board designer, a request form, a proposal, an invoice, a payment page or the client portal.

Some sections are about one group only; they say so.

2. Workshops and accounts

  • Give us accurate details when you sign up, and keep your sign-in to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
  • The person who creates a workshop can invite others and decide what they can see and do. They are responsible for the people they invite.
  • You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and using Kanna Studio for a business.
  • Tell us straight away at hello@kanna.studio if you think someone has got into your account.

3. Workshops sell; we provide the tool

When a client asks for a quote, accepts a proposal or pays an invoice, their agreement is with the workshop, not with us. The workshop sets its own prices, terms, deposits, refunds and timelines, and is responsible for the work it sells, the promises it makes and the laws that apply to its business — including telling its clients how it uses their information.

Prices, estimates, drawings and 3D views in Kanna Studio are tools for the workshop and its client; the workshop decides what it will actually build and charge.

4. Payments

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. A workshop that takes payments through Kanna Studio also agrees to Stripe’s terms for its account. We never see or store full card or bank numbers.
  • The fees for using Kanna Studio — for example a platform fee on payments made through it — are the ones we tell you about. We’ll tell you before a fee changes.
  • Refunds of a client’s payment are the workshop’s decision, made under its own terms.
  • Taxes on what a workshop sells are the workshop’s to charge and pay.

5. Clients and visitors on a workshop’s pages

You may use the pages a workshop shares with you — including pages embedded in the workshop’s own website — for what they’re for: designing a piece, asking for a quote, reviewing and paying for your project. Sections 6 and 7 apply to you as they do to everyone.

6. Acceptable use

Don’t use Kanna Studio to:

  • break the law, or anyone’s rights — including sending spam or content you have no right to share;
  • get into accounts, data or systems that aren’t yours, or test, probe or overload ours;
  • upload malware, or interfere with how Kanna Studio works for anyone else;
  • use automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access or collect anything from Kanna Studio, except through a connection we offer, such as the agent connector.

7. Our software, and the Sawyer engine

Kanna Studio and everything in it that isn’t yours — its software, designs, templates and text, and its 3D wood rendering engine, Sawyer, including its shaders, wood species recipes, materials and models — belong to Knit & Knot Studio and are protected by copyright, trade secret and other laws. Using Kanna Studio gives you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it as we offer it, for its intended purpose, while these terms apply. It doesn’t transfer any ownership.

You may not, and may not help anyone else to:

  • copy, extract, download or capture Kanna Studio’s or Sawyer’s code, shaders, species recipes or other data, other than as your browser needs to show a page;
  • decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer any part of Kanna Studio or Sawyer, or try to work out how its rendering is done, except where the law gives you a right to that cannot be waived;
  • scrape or bulk-collect Sawyer’s species recipes or rendering output, or capture its shader code from the browser (for example with developer tools or GPU debuggers);
  • use Kanna Studio, Sawyer or anything they produce to build, train or improve a competing product or rendering engine;
  • remove, hide or change any copyright notice, or rent, resell or sublicense Kanna Studio.

Pictures and drawings of your own designs that Kanna Studio makes for you are yours to use for your business and your clients.

8. Your content

Workshops own their data: their clients, projects, estimates, designs, photos and files. Clients own what they send. You give us permission to store, process, copy and display your content only as needed to run Kanna Studio for you — to host it, render it in 3D, send the e-mails you ask us to, and back it up.

You’re responsible for having the right to everything you put into Kanna Studio, including your clients’ information. How we handle personal information is in the Privacy Policy.

9. Agents, mailboxes and other connections

A workshop can connect outside tools to Kanna Studio: an AI agent through the agent connector, a mailbox, a calendar. What a connected tool does with your data is between you and its provider, under its terms; you choose what to connect and can disconnect it at any time. You’re responsible for what an agent you connect does in your workshop.

10. Services we rely on

Kanna Studio runs on other companies’ services — hosting, databases, payments and e-mail delivery among them (the Privacy Policy names them). We’re not responsible for their outages, but we choose them with care.

11. Ending

  • You can stop using Kanna Studio at any time. Ask us at hello@kanna.studio to close your workshop and delete its data.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk or goes unpaid — with notice where we reasonably can.
  • Sections 7, 8, 12 and 13 keep applying after an account is closed.

12. No warranties

We work hard to keep Kanna Studio running and accurate, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that prices, estimates, drawings, renderings or calculations are right for your work — check them before you rely on them.

13. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim about Kanna Studio is limited to what you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim (or US$100 if you paid nothing). Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Kanna Studio changes. We’ll post the new version here with its date, and tell workshops in the app or by e-mail before a significant change takes effect. Using Kanna Studio after that means you accept the new terms.
